What does sulfate free mean? | Balmain Hair

Sulfate (also spelt Sulphate) is a chemical used in many hair care products that primarily causes the foaming action commonly associated with shampoos. Sulfate when used in abundance may cause some side effects for the sensitive skin, such as redness, dryness and itching.

Most Balmain Hair products are sulfate free, but the sulfates that are used in some of the Balmain Hair products are not harmful to humans or the environment. The sulfate free formula maintains the natural oils on the hair and scalp, which leaves your hair moisturized.

SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulphate) is a more processed and gentler version of SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate). It is gentler to your scalp and hair.

Our Volume shampoo, Homme Bodyfying Shampoo, plus all of our conditioners, are Sulfate-free. Whilst our other shampoos do list SLES in their ingredients.

Please contact us if you would like to check if a hair product contains sulfates or any other ingredient.
